Doraemon and his crew go on a journey to defeat Giga Zombies, using the time machine. They were struck by a turbulent time Giga Zombies spell and only Doraemon was able to return to the city while the others were stuck in Giga World. Doraemon must find a Hero (male) or Heroine (female) to help find his friends. So the story begins. The gameplay is similar to the Dragon Quest series, where the player character and Doraemon travel through various overworld areas and dungeons, with random encounters triggering turn-based battles. Unlike many other RPGs, the game has four distinct areas, and the player is not allowed to return to completed areas once they reach the next part of the game. Rather than purchasing equipment from shops, all gear is found in treasure chests in dungeons and towns. Gold is used for purchasing items to heal and attack, or to cast spells. Doraemon's pouch can store an unlimited number of items, but items must be placed in characters' individual inventories to be equipped. In towns, Doraemon is capable of contacting Dorami to restore the party's HP, give gold as rewards for defeating enemies, and allow the player to save the game. While the player character and Doraemon are always in the party, various other characters temporarily join the party in each area, with Nobita permanently joining at the end of the first area.
